Laundry Tricks and Solutions For Everyday
Posted by mymegablog on Thursday Oct 29, 2009 Under Huge CategoryDoing laundry can be a daunting task, especially for larger families. Keeping track of everything is pretty important. Here are some tips to help you keep it all under control and not get overwhelmed. I actually enjoy laundry because it can be so soothing when done smoothly.
1. Have multiple hampers and storage locations for clothes. Give everyone their own instead of having everyone share. A single hamper means doing laundry a lot more often during the week. If you prefer to do all if it at once you’ll need a hamper for everyone. When it’s laundry day dump them all in a pile, then sort the clothes back into the hamper according to load (whites, jeans, darks, delicates, towels, etc)
2. Turn your clothes inside out when washing so the colors don’t run, edges don’t fray and help your clothes last longer. Whether you believe me or not, it’s worth a try. Plus, it’s interesting to see which clothes turn themselves right side out by the time they’re through the dryer. This happens to me a lot.
3. Seems logical, but some people miss this. Put the soap in before adding your clothes. If you put clothes in first and then soap there’s a good chance the clothes on the bottom won’t get any soapy water.
4. Don’t mix loads. Mixing reds with whites turns the whites into pinks. Mixing delicates with jeans will damage the delicate fabric. Basically, follow the tag instructions and wash clothes with like items, meaning similar fabrics and colors. You’ll do a few more loads this way, but your clothes will last longer.
