An Automated External Defibrillatoris a little, cartable device that analyzes heart rhythms for any irregularities and, if sensible, directs the trained help to give an electrical shock to the heart of an sudden cardiac arrest victim .  This shock , called defibrillation, might enable the heart to reestablish a regular rhythm .

An Automated External Defibrillator puts forth  voice prompts to advise   the rescuer . Once the machine is switched on, the trained help will be directed to apply the 2 pads provided with the AED to the SCA vistim’s chest. As soon as they are applied , the AED will begin to monitor the SCA victim’s heart rhythm.  If a shockable rhythm is discovered , the machine will charge itself and advise the rescuer to stand clear of the victim and to press the shock button.

An Automated External Defibrillatoris hard wired to communicate to the trained help exactly what needs to be done, employing  voice and visual prompts . trained help attach   sticky electrode pads on the victim’s chest. Through these electrodes, the AED is programmed to automatically determine the electrical activity of the heart to determine if a shockable rhythm exists.

Whether you expeience an SCA at home  or in the Emergency Room of a hospital, defibrillation is THE treatment .
